After hearing a lot about the wonderful opportunity of Suite 101, I finally bit the bullet and applied. I debated for a while if I should apply or not. Honestly, I was just starting to write and I was nervous that I would get rejected. I finally made myself apply. I waited anxiously and checked my email about every 15 minutes, and after several grueling hours I got my answer. I was accepted to be a writer for Suite 101 on January 13, 2010.
After the excitement was over, the reality set in. You have to complete 10 articles every 90 days in order to write for Suite. Panic began setting in. What do I write about? How do I write? Will writing be worth my time?
I sat down and began writing my first article. It felt like it took an eternity to write the first article. I checked and double checked everything to make sure I was doing the best I could. Once I submitted the article to the editor, I waited to see if it would get published. About a day later I saw that my article had been published, and I did not receive any editorial kickbacks.
With the new confidence, I wrote my second article. Wow, did I get hammered on the editor’s review. This article was a great learning experience for me though. I got a clearer understanding of the format and the style that Suite 101 expects. The editor I had was amazing with her advice, and help. After three kick backs, my article was finally approved.
I have now started trying to write more, and brainstorming on ideas. I know there are a lot of people out there who are wondering about Suite, so I thought I would blog about my experience to show others how I am doing. I am a new writer trying to make a good monthly income from writing to help supplement my full time income. I hope that this can give others motivation, and a better understanding of Suite 101.
Hopefully this blog will help those who have questions about Suite, and help motivate those that are afraid of applying. I would love to hear feedback, and share experiences.
